Young Adults at St. Camillus

Ministry for young adults at St. Camillus is, like other ministries, broad and inclusive. Separate groups exist for Spanish-speaking and French-speaking young adults and this group is made up mostly of English speakers, though for some of us, English is their second or third language.

This group, known by the acronym ASK, for Adults Seeking the Kingdom, welcomes people in a wide range of ages and a variety of stages of life. Generally, participants range in age from our early 20s to our 40s, with the majority in our mid-20s to mid-30s. We're single, married, with kids and without, and every possible combination of those categories. At most of our activities, small children are welcome.

There's no formal membership, but we draw from a large group of  people who come to various events as our busy schedules permit.  Activities are planned by whomever among us wants to organize something.  Among our most regular activities: an annual weekend retreat in the fall;  small faith-sharing groups; and monthly (more or less)  Saturday night potluck dinners (sometimes  with a movie to discuss).  ASK members also pitch in on a variety of parish activities and are  active in lots of other St. Camillus groups, including the Parish Council, St. Francis Builds, youth ministry, the food pantry, children's liturgy,  liturgical ministries, and teaching ESL and religious education.

Pretty much each Sunday, you can find a group of us gathering in the back of the church after the 10:30 a.m. Mass to catch up and figure out where to go for lunch. Come any week and introduce yourself, and we'll be happy to plug you into what's going on. We communicate largely by a Yahoo list serve. Take a look:
