Liturgical Life
Introduction
Recently, we did a survey of what folks love best about St. Camillus. Liturgy was mentioned over and over. There is a sense that you have come home. “There is a strong sense of welcoming here,” commented parishioners. “The music is incredible!” wrote many others. Still a third group spoke of how beautifully the Church is decorated and maintained. Each of these elements contributes to the rich liturgical life that we enjoy. But it doesn’t happen without the contribution of many members of our parish family, many of who work quietly behind the scenes

LITURGY COMMITTEE

Join with other members of the community to plan for the liturgical needs of St. Camillus. Bring your creativity and love for liturgy and share your ideas for liturgies for Sunday Eucharistic Celebrations and special liturgies, including celebrations for holy day Masses.  Meetings are held the third Monday of each month.

ALTAR SERVERS
Serve as an assistant to the priest before, during, and after the celebration of Mass. Dependability, attentiveness, and reverence during Mass are important. Practice at scheduled times, arrive 15 minutes before each assigned mass, and as needed for special feast day celebrations.

ALTAR SOCIETY

You can work behind the scenes to help maintain the beauty of the altar in a number of ways -- laundering and ironing of the linens, altar cloths, purificators, and towels at home, and/or help with the church decorations. Repair, clean and maintain vestments.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

As a layperson (at least eighteen years of age), you play a vital role during mass when you help with the distribution of Communion at Mass and to the sick and homebound.  Please note:  You need to have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

LECTORS

Proclaim the Scripture readings with reverence and understanding at weekly and special liturgies and lead the congregation in prayer. A dedicated willingness to prepare the readings and proclaim them well is the sign of a good lector.  You will also read the intercessions in the Prayers of the Faithful and make any announcements after communion.

ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Add to the beauty and prayerful atmosphere of St. Camillus by keeping it clean, orderly, and decorated for our liturgical seasons.  Assist with flower arrangements and with decorating the church for special liturgies.

MUSIC AND DANCE MINISTRIES

Make a “Joyful noise unto the Lord” by leading the congregation in musical celebration at Masses and on special occasions. For most choirs you are welcome with any skill level as a musician or singer. Sight reading skills are helpful but not required.  Rehearsal and mass schedule times are described below for each regular and special music ministry.

USHERS

Would you be willing to help create a welcoming atmosphere and assist in practical matters of worship before, during, and after Mass? Arrive 30 minutes before Mass to seat parishioners, recruit and help families to carry gifts at the offertory procession; pass the collection baskets; guide orderly flow at communion time; maintain security; help distribute the Sunday bulletin and other approved handouts after Mass, and tidy up the church when done.

MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY

Welcome people to St. Camillus and act as a gracious host or hostess before Mass and make the people you greet feel part of our St. Camillus family. As a greeter, you’ll welcome parishioners with a warm smile and a hand shake, paying special attention to those needing assistance entering the church as well as visitors and newcomers. Arrive at least 20 minutes before mass and attend one training session per year.
