St Camillus, as many other churches, in partnership with Prison Fellowship, help connect parents in prison with their children.
Angel Tree is a program of Prison Fellowship whose mission is "to restore those affected by crime and incarceration by introducing prisoners, victims, and their families to a new hope available through Jesus Christ.”
Each year, St. Camillus participate in the Angel Tree program by collecting Christmas gifts for children who have an incarcerated parent. Parishioners may contribute gifts for a single child or a whole family, and volunteer to deliver the gifts to families during the last two weeks of Advent. The gifts are given in the name of the prisoner-parent.
Starting in September, after each Mass, parishioners have the opportunity to take a tag from the tree in the Church. The Angel Tree tags contain the name of the child along with a gift suggestion. Parishioners bring their gift to the Parish Office before Christmas.
Volunteers are needed to call care givers, fill in and distribute Angel Tree tags and to deliver the gift to homes. To volunteer call Susan Kerin 301-675-9518 or Mrs. Rusty Kolodrubetz at 301-439-3247
