This community was formed in 1986 for the purpose of uniting Haitians throughout St. Camillus to worship God together in our native French/Creole language. We have expanded the goal of the group to include raising money to help our Haitian brothers and sisters in the US and in Haiti.
The Haitian presence here at St. Camillus is visible and, although small, we are very active in different ministries of parish life. Regular events include:
Mass in French/Creole - celebrated the 3rd Saturday of every month at 6pm in the Fr. Grace Chapel.
Haitian Legion of Mary - meets every Tuesday at 7:30pm in the Father Grace Chapel. This community has two main events though out the year.
The Haitian Family Day of Fun and Fellowship - This day serves the purpose of bringing the Haitian community closer, through fun activities, over native food and with a chance for leisurely conversation.
The Haitian Christmas Gala - This is the main fundraiser for the Haitian Community as it raises money which is then sent to designated orphanages, charity organizations, or schools to fund the education of children in Haiti.
