Fr. Paul Mario Williams, O.F.M. was born and raised in nearby Alexandria, Virginia. He was baptized six weeks after birth at St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended its school. He graduated from George Washington High School, attending Northern Virginia Community College and graduated from George Mason University. In August of 1975, he was received as an affiliate (postulant) of Holy Name Province and resided at Holy Cross Friary in the Bronx, NY. Br. Paul continued in the HNP initial formation program and made Solemn Profession in June of 1980. Br. Paul studied for the priesthood at Pope John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA. After ordination on May 3, 1986, Fr. Paul was assigned to St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City and, a year later, was named Pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Greenville, SC. After 15 years at St. Anthony’s he was named Pastor of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Columbia, SC, where he ministered for eight years. He then served at St. Joseph Parish in Anderson, SC. From April 13, 2013 until September 13, 2020, Fr. Paul served as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Wilmington, DE. After his ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Paul requested to be assigned to St. Camillus Parish in Silver Spring, MD, but that request was denied. Now—at long last—that request has been approved! Welcome, Fr. Paul, to your new home at St. Camillus.
